Did you know Clear Lake is one of the oldest lakes in the United States?
“Clear Lake, located in Lake County about 87 miles north of San Francisco, has long held the title of oldest lake in the US. Sediment cores collected by the US Geological Survey confirmed the lake has existed continuously for roughly 480,000 years, predating modern humans entirely. That’s an extraordinary run for any body of water, especially one that survived multiple ice ages, volcanic activity, and persistent drought cycles that wiped out most other lakes across the continent.”
