Perfect Your Swing in Lake County

November 17, 2024

What makes the perfect golf course?

Well-manicured courses, with vast, verdant, and varied terrain? Check.

California’s clearest skies (so you can see your ball miss the fairway…we kid, we kid)? Check.

Oh, and maybe a towering, 10,000-year old mountain, a rolling vineyard, or a shimmering lake as the backdrop?

Any one of these attributes would be awesome, but all of them in one place? Sounds like a golfer’s paradise. Well, it also sounds like Lake County!

With breathtaking views as far as the eye can see, there’s no better place to perfect your swing. Linksmen in Lake County have their choice of courses too, with multiple courses, spread across four locations, each possessing their own Clearly Different appeal.

Designed by renowned architect Jack Fleming in 1962, Adams Springs Golf Course in Cobb is a 9-hole course at 3,050  feet above sea level,  featuring five par-fours and one par-five.  Surrounded by dense evergreen foliage and rolling hills, this storied club isn’t just a fabulous spot to tee-off — it’s a great place to relax, unwind, and socialize before and after play. No visit is complete without a stop by the clubhouse and restaurant, featuring a full bar, fuller dining menu, and plenty of places to lounge indoors or outside.

Buckingham Golf and Country Club

Located on the southern shores of Clear Lake, Buckingham Golf and Country Club in Kelseyville offers a luxurious nine-hole experience — along with all the amenities one could ask for — in the picturesque shadow of Mt. Konocti.  Do you also love to fish, ride, ski, or whatever on the water? Buckingham is so close to Clear Lake that golfers can even dock their boat for a game.

eanwhile, on the southern shores of Clear Lake, Buckingham Golf and Country Club and Riviera Hills Country Club in Kelseyville each offer luxurious 9-hole experiences—along with all the amenities one could ask for— in the picturesque shadow of Mt. Konocti, an ancient (dormant) volcano whose peak towers at 4,305 feet. Buckingham is so close to the water that golfers can dock their boat for a game, and Riviera Hills is perfectly positioned for optimal views of both Mt. Konocti and the lake.

The formidable par-72 course is breathtaking and challenging, with several surprises sure to impress even the most-seasoned golfer. Best part? The 15th hole’s infamous 250-foot fairway drop. It’s a doozy!

Brambles Golf Course

Brambles Golf Course is the new kid in Middletown, and offers Lake County golfers another option for 18-rounds of bliss.  Set in a valley floor, Brambles offers wonderful scenery and a strategic golf design, with a topography that ramps up as the course plays along the foothills of the surrounding mountains. Don’t let its commitment to old-world, UK-style play fool you; Brambles is a relaxing, unfussy club that puts the golf first. Oh, and the off-fairways will be maintained by a flock of sheep. Like we said, this place is old-school. If you want to be one of the first to experience Lake County’s newest club, they’re hosting the 2024 Fried Egg Golf Event.
