Blues. Wine. Pears. Sweeten your September in Lake County.

July 26, 2023

There’s just something special about September. It’s like the brunch of months; not quite summer,  not yet fall, but with a little bit of the best of both worlds. You can still do all of the things in the great outdoors, but you won’t have to pack a heavy jacket to stay warm. Football is finally back on TV (Go Niners!), but you won’t have to be cooped up inside all day either.

Yep, we’re big fans of September in Lake County, and you will be too, especially when you see all of the events we have in store.

You see, September is one of our busiest seasons, as we host three of our most popular festivals of the year — the Blue Wing Blues Festival, the Lake County Wine Auction, and the Lake County Pear Festival.

Trust us, you won’t want to miss any of them!

The Blue Wing Blues Festival

Blue Wing Blues Festival at Tallman Hotel

Labor Day Weekend, September 2-4
There’s nothing better than spending Labor Day weekend at the lake (especially when it’s Lake County). What could make the weekend even better? Glad you asked! You won’t be singing the blues, but you’ll certainly be jamming to them during the Blue Wing Blues Festival. Held at
the Blue Wing Restaurant at the historic Tallman Hotel, this is the highly anticipated highlight of the musical year. Grab your spot in the garden under the gentle shade of the sycamores as two bands play every night for three nights starting at 6:15pm. Before you ask; yes there will be beer, apps, and cocktails, and yes, they are all delicious. The festival sells out so get your tickets now.

Lake County Wine Auction

Saturday, September 16
Lake County is wine country’s fastest-growing region, and is a must visit any time of year. But if you want to come party with us during the biggest celebration of the year, you’ll have to visit on Saturday, September 16 for the Lake County Wine Auction. Sponsored by the
Lake County Wine Alliance, the Lake County Wine Auction puts the “fun” in “fundraiser,” and has helped contribute more than $2 million to worthy causes throughout Lake County. So you’ll have a wonderful time and contribute to wonderful causes too. This years’ event will be held on the beautiful lawn of The Mercantile by Shannon Family of Wines. Be sure to purchase your tickets soon, because they will go fast.

Kelseyville Pear Festival

28th Annual Kelseyville Pear Parade

Saturday, September 30
Love charming small town festivals?
The Kelseyville Pear Festival is the “peary” best (sorry, not sorry)! Held every year on the last Saturday of September, the Kelseyville Pear Festival celebrates the area’s rich and vibrant agricultural heritage. What are the highlights…how much time do you have? The pancake breakfast at the FireHouse; the Grand Pear Parade; dessert contest; Kid’s Town; arts and crafts; the antique tractor and gas exhibit, and…well, a lot more. It’s easy to see why this event draws more than 10,000 people from around the region every year. While Friday’s ticketed kickoff event, Farm To Fork Dinner & Dance, is already sold out, the Saturday festival itself is free and full of plenty of things to do. And trust us, you definitely do want to go!

As you can see, September in Lake County is going to be busy — a blast — so be sure to visit one (or all) of our festivals. We’ve got plenty of places to stay and you’re always welcome!

For a September to remember, visit Lake County and see what makes us Clearly Different!
