Three Great Places to Eat in Lake County: California Cuisine
May 17, 2022
California’s known for its fresh, bright cuisine, and Lake County is no exception. We’ve got many restaurants that feature a fantastic fusion of traditional and transformational. If you’re looking for haute cuisine with a down-home, friendly vibe, here are three great places to try.
Kelseyville: The Saw Shop Public House
Owner Weston Siefert makes no compromises with his food. It’s thoughtfully made, high-quality, and consistent. He regularly updates his menu to add new items, feature local farms and ranches, and try out new flavors. For example, you won’t be disappointed by their Buffalo Cauliflower Pasta, a combination of crisp buffalo cauliflower, bacon, gorgonzola cheese, red bell pepper, and farfalle pasta served with a creamy, cheesy garlic sauce. And they specialize in local wines and handcrafted cocktails such as the Church Girl, comprised of 209 Gin, elderberry liqueur, house-made blueberry syrup, fresh lemon, and sparkling lemonade. On Thursdays they feature live music, so you can sit back, sip on a drink, and enjoy some of the county’s best food.

Lakeport: Park Place
Park Place has been a Lake County fixture for nearly forty years and has continually updated, improved, and expanded its menu. Founded to bring fresh, current food to the area, it has succeeded. Most of the vegetables are grown at a restaurant-run farm in Upper Lake, just a few minutes away. All the sauces and dressings are made in-house, designed to complement the dishes. All the pasta’s handmade each day, which brings a quality you won’t find elsewhere. Also, there’s the location—Park Place sits next to Library Park in Lakeport, with one of the best views of Clear Lake. Swing by on a pleasant afternoon and relax on the patio, watching the sun turn Mt. Konocti shades of red, blue, and purple. And if you happen to show up on a Friday night in midsummer, you’ll get to listen to live music in the gazebo as you enjoy your meal.

Upper Lake: The Blue Wing Saloon
The Blue Wing Saloon represents some of the best parts of Lake County. Resting at the end of Main Street in Upper Lake, the saloon’s part of a fully-restored historical site and a companion to the Tallman Hotel, a perfect place to get away for a night. On summer evenings, the trees light up, live music’s playing on the hotel’s veranda, and tables stretch between the gardens and fountain. Sit back, sip on some of their specialty cocktails or a local Lake County wine, and enjoy their quality cuisine. You can’t go wrong with the Black and Blue Wing Burger, made with brisket and Angus beef, caramelized onions, microgreens, and blue cheese, served on a local bakery’s brioche bun.
