As summer gives way to fall, Lake County’s farms, orchards, and vineyards come alive with the sights, flavors, and traditions of harvest season. Late summer and early fall is the perfect time to experience the region’s agricultural heritage through community celebrations, family-friendly activities, and behind-the-scenes farm experiences.

September 12:  Big Valley Small Farm Tour

Meet the farmers and producers who help shape the “Big Valley” region of Lake County’s vibrant agricultural community. The Big Valley Small Farm Tour invites visitors to explore working farms, sample local products, and connect directly with the people behind the harvest. It’s an authentic look at the land, the food, and the passion that defines the region.  This fun-filled, self-led driving tour takes place on September 12 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and each of the participating farms has something special planned for visitors.

September 26:  Kelseyville Pear Festival

Celebrate one of Lake County’s most treasured agricultural traditions at the Kelseyville Pear Festival. This beloved community event showcases the region’s pear-growing heritage with a hometown parade, local vendors, live entertainment, delicious food, and family fun. It’s a chance to experience the charm and hospitality that make Lake County unique.

September 26 through late October:  THAT Ranch Pumpkin Patch, Corn Maze, and More!

If you’re looking for fall-focused activities, THAT Ranch in Lakeport is a fabulous option. Visitors can enjoy a mix of family-friendly attractions and agricultural learning experiences designed to teach the next generation about the importance of farming. The ranch features acres of pumpkin patches where guests can pick their own pumpkins or choose from more than 100 varieties available for purchase. It also offers a specially designed themed corn maze, with this year’s theme giving a nod to America’s 250th birthday. Family activities and games include kiddie rides, gold panning, tug-of-war challenges, paintball, apple cannon target shooting, a giant fun slide, and a good old-fashioned carousel. Visitors looking for a spooky adventure can also explore the haunted house, and guests can choose from a variety of on-site food and beverage vendors.

October 9:  Walnut Harvest Dinner

This will be unforgettable evening celebrating one of Lake County’s treasured agricultural products at the Walnut Harvest Dinner, Friday, October 9, under the beautiful gazebo at Xabatin Community Park in Lakeport.

The evening begins with appetizers followed by an extraordinary five-course meal created by popular local chefs and served beneath the gazebo with a beautiful lakeside view.  Everything served will be walnut-themed creations to celebrate the flavors of fall and the bounty of Lake County.  Live music from pianist and composer, Nicky Hind, will be performed throughout dinner.
