Huttopia Wine County: Eco-Tourism meets Luxury Glamping at Six Sigma Ranch
June 16, 2023
It’s only June and summer 2023 is already going to be one for the record books. What is the reason we’re in love with this season? Because June 30 marks the grand opening of the one-of-a-kind Huttopia Wine Country at Six Sigma Ranch and Winery!
Eco-tourism… Luxury glamping… Wine country…
These are a few of our favorite things — and they all come together at this vibrant working ranch and winery nestled in the rolling hills of Lower Lake in Lake County!
Six Sigma Ranch and Winery has been a “must-see” for wine aficionados for more than twenty years. Now with the addition of Huttopia’s signature eco-tourism camping tents, Six Sigma has leveled-up their already stellar experience in a big way by bringing you even closer to nature.
The Huttopia Wine Country project is a partnership of two-family owned organizations: Six Sigma Ranch and Winery, and Huttopia. After several years in the making, Huttopia Six Sigma opens this summer, promising guests: “ready-to-camp comfort in an exceptional destination where getting closer to nature with loved ones and exploring your surroundings is what it’s all about!”
So yeah, you can see why we’re so stoked for this development. What can you expect? Let’s dive in!
Sleep under the stars in style!
Huttopia is a cute portmanteau of “hut” and “utopia,” which is a perfect description of these jaw-dropping camping sites.
Whatever you’re picturing right now doesn’t do it justice. Huttopia’s custom-designed wooden frames and canvas tents bring you close to the wonders of nature, but boast the luxuries of a modern hotel suite.
With real beds, private toilets, solar or electric power, showers, kitchens, and more, this is most definitely not “roughing” it. There are so many modern amenities, you might expect to look out your window and see the San Francisco skyline. But unlike a big city hotel, each tent comes with the breathtaking beauty of sleeping under the stars with California’s clearest skies, surrounded by the sights, sounds, and scents of the countryside.
Huttopia Six Sigma boats sixty-plus tents on site, and offers three tent styles for you to choose from:
- Enjoy a romantic escape for two in the Trapper Duo Pacific
- Cozy up in comfort with the people you’re closest to in the Canadienne Pacific
- Take a trip with friends in the largest option, the Trappeur Pacific
As nice as these accommodations are, you’re definitely going to want to check out the rest of what Huttopia Six Sigma Ranch has to offer!
Activities as far as the eye can see!
Huttopia Six Sigma boasts views that seem to last forever – and activities that follow suit!
- Soak up the sun or dive into some fun with the large heated pool. What better way to cool off after a day of hiking or biking? Of course, you could just spend all day by the pool, with smoothies, sodas, and brews for sale in the central lodge.
- When the sun goes down, the party gets started, with a calendar of activities all summer long. Listen and dance to live acoustic tunes of gypsy jazz, pop rock, you name it. Catch a magic show, live theater, or outdoor movie. Go old-school and roast s’mores while gazing up at the stars.
- Explore some of the best mountain bike trails in the region with electric mountain bike rentals for half-a-day or the entire season!
- Give your K-12 kids a summer to remember (and yourself the morning off) with daily activities like treasure hunts, outdoor games, arts and crafts, and more.
- Discover plenty of ways to play with foosball, ping pong, corn hole, board games, a kid’s playground, and Pétanque, a popular game from the South of France that’ll have you hooked!
- Grab a bite at the Café-Bistro, or ride into Lower Lake for even more restaurants and activities.
Of course, we know the activity the adults are really interested in — the winery!
Sustainable farming meets savory wines.
For more than two decades, Six Sigma Ranch and Winery has produced international, award-winning wines. Their approach is reflected in their name. If you’ve spent any time in Corporate America, you probably know that “Six Sigma” is a methodology developed by engineers for process improvement. Well, the owners of Six Sigma figured that same mentality could be applied to wine making – and the results are delicious.
Six Sigma Ranch brings together the art and science of winemaking, utilizing natural farming techniques to promote biodiversity and sustainability. Oh, they also make a really stellar wine, from their Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 to their 2022 Wildflower Picnics Rose Wine.
You can sip and savor these beauties, or one of their other wines surrounded by Valley Oak trees more than a century old at The Stage Coach Stop tasting room. The tasting room got its name because it’s located in a cozy cabin that was once a stagecoach shop. The Stage Coach Stop is open daily from 11am to 4:30pm, except for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
You can also explore the 4,300-acre ranch from the seat in their all-terrain Pinzgauer. Now that’s our kind of vineyard tour! The Pinzgauer can hold up to ten people, and is open for regular tours on Saturdays at 10am, 12pm, and 2pm, or for private tours by calling 707-994-4068.
Pretty exciting, huh? Now you can tell why summer 2023 is going to be incredible!
While there are sixty tents available, they’ll go fast so don’t wait. Bring your trip to wine country closer to nature with Huttopia Wine Country at Six Sigma Ranch and Winery!
