There’s Lots to Love in Lake County – October 2017

September 27, 2017

Are you “sitting” out the Konocti Challenge? For the non-cycling set, there’s plenty of other things to do in Lake County in October. Here’s a few notable highlights:
16th Annual Falling Leaves Quilt Show
Presented by Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild

Bad at Math? Not to Fear – You Can Quilt!

“A lot of people are intimidated by quilting, because of all the math,” says Lynn Wilder, master quilter, teacher and author of the book Patchwork Math.

“My goal is to empower people with the skills to resize or create any pattern – simple or complex – with a system of grids and common tools.”

Intricate, bold, intriguing – quilt making was born from thrift when women saved their fabric scraps to create something of function – and lasting beauty – for future generations.

Fast forward a few hundred years and you’ll find the art of quilt making alive and thriving – with plenty of neophytes eager to learn the secrets of successful quilt making – and that means doing the math.

Interested? Lynn brings her formidable skills to the Lake County Fairgrounds as a featured speaker at the 16th Annual Falling Leaves Quilt Show, presented by the Ladies of the Lake Quilt Guild.

“I’ll be demonstrating my techniques until my voice runs out!”

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn from a master – and let the math set your creativity free!
