Three Great Places to Eat in Lake County: Pizza

June 17, 2022

One of the best ways to end a day of exploring Lake County is with a good meal, and one of the best meals to enjoy will always be pizza. It doesn’t matter where you are in the county; you’ll be able to enjoy a great slice of America’s favorite meal.

Lower Lake: DJ’s Pizza

Lower Lake: DJ’s PizzaLocated in the historic town of Lower Lake, DJ’s is a great place to stop for dinner. The key to DJ’s pizza is its commitment to quality. They work to create a positive environment, treat their employees like family and regularly hold charity events for the community. It’s all part of owner Kyle Fehr’s local-based philosophy. That positivity translates to good pizza; customers love the Chicken Bacon Madness with a ranch sauce base and topped with chicken, bacon, pineapple, garlic, and artichoke hearts. Another favorite, unique to DJs, is the Korean Fire Chicken Pizza. It’s a bright, fresh, and spicy combination of Gochujang chicken, topped with cabbage, carrot, mint, cilantro, and red onions, then finished with fresh jalapeños and sesame seeds.

Location: 16135 Main St, Lower Lake, CA 95457. (707) 994-4760. Hours of operation: Seven days a week, 11 AM – 9 PM.

Lakeport: Juicy’s Pizza

Juicy's Pizza

If you’re looking for artisanal, specialty pizza, look no further. Juicy’s makes pizza like no other. Owner and certified pizzaiolo Amy Hinson starts with her specialty sourdough crust, made from a starter she’s used since 1996. Then, she crushes fresh organic tomatoes for her handmade sauces and makes most of her toppings in-house. Each pizza is a flavor extravaganza made to delight the tastebuds. Take the Mario, for example. It’s made with a vodka cream sauce and topped with bacon, homemade fennel sausage, and red onion then finished with light chili oil and pesto. But whatever you order, it’s impossible to pick the wrong pizza.

Location: 155 Park St, Lakeport, CA 95453. (707) 413-3080. Hours of operation: Wednesday through Saturday, 3-8 PM.

Kelseyville, Kelseyville Riviera, and Lakeport: Pogo’s Pizza

Pogo’s Pizza KelseyvilleFor decades, Pogo’s has served high-quality pizza. That’s because owner Pete Ogo doesn’t cut corners. All the dough is handmade, and he only uses the freshest ingredients he can find. He makes the sausage in-house according to a secret recipe (don’t even bother asking; you won’t find out). Each pizza gets an abundance of toppings; he never measures or skimps on what’s needed. Try the Spicy Buffalo Chicken, made with buffalo sauce, chicken, cheese, and garnished with sour cream, lettuce, and tomatoes. Or, for a change, try the Meatball Madness, complete with marinara, homemade meatballs, onions, tomatoes, and Italian seasoning. And if you’re in the mood for something more, Pogos offers a large selection of incredible burgers and sandwiches.
