Vintage Boats Hit the Water at Lake County’s Wood & Glory
May 22, 2015
Take notice, vintage boat and car enthusiasts, because the biggest wooden boat show on the West Coast is back!
The Wood & Glory Boat Show returns to the Konocti Vista Casino in Lakeport, California, on Saturday, May 30, as the perfect kickoff to the summer. Featuring a marina full of vintage wooden boats all impeccably maintained or restored to their original condition, Wood & Glory also showcases nearly 100 vintage cars in a display coordinated by the No Name Car Club of Lake County. It’s a rip-roaring rally that takes classic boat and car fans back to the days when men were real men, women were real women and varnished wooden exteriors were real varnished wooden exteriors.
Best of all, Wood & Glory is a completely free event. There is no admission fee for fans and no entry fee for classic boat and car owners to be in the show. Although donations will be accepted to benefit the Kelseyville High School Agriculture Department. Plus, the first 75 cars to register onsite will receive a free commemorative dashboard plaque—a pretty sweet deal considering it doesn’t cost anything to register.
If you’ve never experienced the glory of dozens of restored vintage boats docked side by side, check out this YouTube video from last year’s event. The Konocti Vista Casino has its own marina located on the historic and breathtaking Clear Lake, the oldest lake in North America.
The casino will also be serving up an epic outdoor barbecue, with pulled-pork sandwiches, BBQ chicken and more on the menu. Secure parking and discounted overnight stays are also available for show attendees.
What better place to check out the vintage boats and cars from yesteryear than America’s oldest lake? Make plans to attend the Wood & Glory Boat Show on May 30 at the Konocti Vista Casino for some “show and shine” fun that is guaranteed to float your boat.
