Wine and Dine Around the World or Right at Home, at On The Waterfront Restaurant!

We love adventure here in Lake County, California. By “adventure,” we usually mean of the outdoor variety — boating, skiing, hiking, biking, bird watching, bass fishing, you name it, you can probably do it on our 1,300 square mile playground.

But we’re big fans of culinary adventures too. Give us a delicious meal, great drinks, good friends, and a breathtaking view, and we’re in heaven.

There are lots of places in our area that boast those attributes, and you should definitely try them all. 

This month we’re focusing on a new favorite — On The Waterfront Restaurant in Lakeport, California.

Whether you’re a foodie, wine enthusiast, beer aficionado (or better yet, all of the above), On The Waterfront invites you to embark on a culinary journey like no other.

On The Waterfront is a modern eatery, with a globally inspired, progressive menu that “celebrates the seasons.” The changing seasonal menu means you’re going to get an exceptionally unique culinary experience depending on what time of year you visit. Translation: You’re going to have to check out this place more than once.

Like most great things, On The Waterfront started with a dream. Bryan Kane and Jill Brothers’ dream to be precise. Back in 2005, the duo wanted to make world-class wine in Lake County (they certainly found the right place). They launched the Sol Rogue Winery, which became our county’s first entry in the prestigious Top 100 Wines in the World list. 

Most people would be satisfied with this honor; not Kane and Brothers. No, they wanted to pair a world-class culinary experience with their wines too. So, they did just that. Partnering with their longtime executive chef Sarun Kao, the trio established On The Waterfront. Pairing local wines and beers with fresh, farm-to-table foodie favorites, the trio strived to bring the best of Lake County’s epicurean experience into one place. We’d say they accomplished their mission and then some.

But as magnificent as the food, brews, and views at On The Waterfront are, the crew will remind you that the most important part is, well, you. Nothing goes better with a great meal than good company. On The Waterfront encourages this with dishes designed to be shared. Which, admittedly, is kinda hard because these dishes are really good.

You could say that On The Waterfront is a lot like Lake County itself; there’s so many wonderful aspects, but the best part is, and always will be, the people. 

Whether you’re here for a week or a weekend, make sure you visit On The Waterfront for lunch, dinner, happy hour (Monday-Thursday 3-5pm) or Sunday brunch. Whatever you order, you’re sure to get a smile.
