We are flying into the wilds of Lake Pillsbury today in the Mendocino National Forest of Lake County, California, with this incredible drone footage of the resident Tule Elk herd that calls this area home.
This lake, created from the Eel River and Hull Mountain watershed by Scott Dam is at an elevation of 1,818 ft with 65 mi of shoreline. Activities in the Lake Pillsbury Recreation Area include fishing, swimming, sailing, picnicking, hiking and elk watching (if you’re lucky enough to spot them).
Many thanks to Jeff Rellek for this video.

This is Diamond. She wants to remind you that as you play with your canine companion on our waterways this summer, remember to wear a floatation device! Whether you're flesh or fur, large or small, being safe is the best way to ensure a fun time is had by all. Thank you for setting a good example Diamond!
The full moon was in rare form last night for the #SuperFlowerBloodMoon eclipse, as captured here locally by @karenpavonephotography. Our clear skies and low light pollution make for perfect star gazing, and observing spectacular lunar events like this one!
Yes, our sunsets are spectacular, but sunrise for early birds definitely vies for the prize as captured here by photographer @catherinereese in Upper Lake, California. Catherine recently won the Lake County 1 Team 1 Dream small business competition last fall, and this talented entrepreneurial lady is doing great things. Follow @reeseranchretreat to learn more. Happy Friday!
