We admit it. We’re a little nuts here in Lake County, California—-walnuts that is! In fact they’re one of our oldest crops with cultivation starting back in the 1870s.
Though they have been eclipsed or edged out by larger crops like winegrapes, many beautiful small orchards can still be seen around the region, and their fall foliage is striking! Have y’all ever seen how walnuts are harvested? Gives a whole new meaning to “shaking the tree”.
